I lost a 5 year old battery this summer on one of my diesels. While at Sears (I only buy diehards) I was talking to the guy who was replacing the battery and I observed that I seemed to lose all my batteries in the summer heat. He indicated that most replacements due to dead batteries occurred in the summer. He noted the other big replacement time was the first freeze.
