Lonnie, I don't know why I didn't think of that. My friend and I rebuild tube amplifiers for guitar and home audio and we frequent a local electronics salvage shop that's not too far from my office.
...inside of the inner bezels were painted turquoise and flat black. Don't know about earlier housings...
This is my '51 speedo and combination meter when I pulled them apart. My assumption would be that before '54 they were all white on the inside of the case and back of the face.
