I think I may have burnt the fuel gage out? 1949 Panel truck, original 6 volt system. The fuel gage was not working so I replaced the sender in that the gage seemed to work. Tested new sender out of the tank and was getting some response on the gage, but is was working back wards. Next I hooked the sender wire directly to the ground and the gage went to full, pegged the needle. Next I ran a jumper to the sender side of the gage and ran it to ground, nothing, did I cook the gage and if not how can I check just the gage to see that it works? Further, my wiring instructions said to apply the hot wire to the top lug of the gage and the sender wire to the lower lug, is this correct? Thanks for he help, I appreciate it.
