JB Weld will eventually fail in some gasolines. I have tested it here in the shop. Better to either fill the hole with a "rivet plug" like the others Carter used; or, if you don't have access to a rivet plug, remove the bowl cover, tap the hole with a standard machine thread, and insert a screw with a fiber washer.

As to the Southwind heaters, Bill Cannon did some really good articles on them many years ago when he was the editor of "Skinned Knuckles" magazine.

At one time, I cleaned out an old auto parts distributor that was a distributor for Southwind, and acquired two really nice metal cabinets chock full of N.O.S. Southwind stuff. Since I had no intent to start another career, I sent it all to Bill.

All of the school buses I remember as a kid in the 1950's and early 1960's were equiped with Southwind heaters. They really seemed to work very well.
