hey guys,
almost done with my 1958 235 rebuild but now for a critical question that i've been confused on since the beginning.
In 1958 235's i understand the oiling line from "point A to point B" in the lifter compartment was deleted and blocked off. The oil then is channeled through the middle of the head through the block where a head bolt is grinded to allow oil flow, into a coupler that oils the rocker shaft/arms. BUT when i tore this puppy down there was an oil line that went from the right side of the block (down in the crankcase) up and over the valve cover into the side of the head where the oil flow for the rocker arms is...why the hell would they do this? to extract overflowing oil? what is it for? and should i block that hole off on the side of the block or replace the oil line with a new one?
