get a new gasket, there are very few situations where I don't use a new gasket, the whole set is $20 at napa. It's worth $20 to me to not have to take it back apart, because it is almost certain you will have to take it back apart. This is definitely one application where I wouldn't even contemplate re-using a gasket.
