Maybe the Chrome shop is talking about brazing ?
I agree with other comments - let the Chrome guys fix the dents - then, if you have a problem they can't point fingers at you.
Have you looked into Powder Coating ? There is a shop in Port Kells that claims they can coat anything. Samples I saw of headers and trim looked pretty good.
