Start with a quality rubber insert. The first one I bought obviously was made offshore. It was hard and inflexible.
Someone recommended Steeles Rubber products. Theirs was very easy to install / slid into the " Tee " slot like a dream. Steeles recommended a 3M adhesive to use on the butt joint that worked great. The softer rubber also seals better against the body to minimize leaks and drafts.
