Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | The drive grear is mounted "on" the transmission output shaft (actually, I dimly recall that it is mounted on the u-joint yoke on an SM420 The driven gear is screwed into the transmission body, and the speedometer cable attaches to it. I think that some drive gears and driven gears can be mixed-and-matched, but they came as matched pairs. I have purchased speedometer adapters from the The Speedometer Shop to get almost perfect mph readouts on two trucks. Also, Bruce Bugay sold me a NOS one set of NOS speedometer gears. | | |
