The nuts on those studs had to be cut off on mine. I was afraid they would break - I did not want to remove broken studs with "not so easy-offs".
They had to eventually come off anyway, because I will be using the original intake with dual-exhaust headers.
We are now working on carefully getting the old studs off (using repetitive torch and penetrant applications).
As DADS50 posted, the studs/nuts are necessary (very few unnecessary parts were put on these trucks).
