When I'm not tinkering with stovebolts I'm building rifles, either from military surplus bolt actions like WW II Mausers, or commercial rigs like Remington, Ruger, or Savage. Way back in the dark ages when I got started, I built my own barrel-holding vise and action wrench to help change barrels. The wrench worked well, but I never was really satisfied with the way the barrel vise performed. Now, 30 years later, I've upgraded- - - -it's another home-made rig, one which can also be used for pressing pistons on and off connecting rods. That's a 12-ton jack, which should give me plenty of clamping force on a barrel while I put some serious torque on the action assembly!
