I am pulling the 216 engine & 4 speed trans from my 48 chevy P/U this weekend. I will be swapping it with a 1954 235 that also has the factory 4 speed trans. The 1948 chevy truck manual references a K-353 gearshift remover for this task. Can this tool be rented or does someone have a suggestion on what can be used instead to disengage the lugs on the retainer? Down the road when I can afford to I would like to put a T-5 trans but will have to putt around for the time being.
