Just wanted to introduce myself and say Hi from Ohio. I learned to drive when I was around 12 in my grandpa's 1951 Chevy 3600 flatbed on the farm where I grew up. That's when I learned to love these old trucks. Then in the early '70's I purchased a 1950 3100 for $300 and did a frame up restoration. But, like an idiot, I sold it, and I have been looking for another one in decent condition and at a bargain price for the last 30 yrs. Then within a week I found TWO! I found the 1952 model 1430 in Canada. It started life as a Manitoba Telephone System truck and then later became a farm truck. It had sat in a field since 1976, but after I hauled her home, gave her a tuneup, rebuilt carb and fresh gas and a new battery, she fired right up. OK, maybe I smoked myself out of the garage, but she did run! Then I found the '49 3800 in the Spotting Alert Network forum, so now I have two great trucks. I plan on complete body restorations on both. The '49 will go back 100% original, and the '52 will get some updates for daily driving. I have a Chevy 307 out of my dad's long-gone '72 3/4T pickup and I think a NV4500 5-spd OD will work nice along with a rear axle ratio change. Plan to use it to pull trailer with my old tractors to shows and tractor pulls.Any suggestions? Check out my pics. Thanks,Roger
