Ever start doing something and get carried away? Today I went out to remove the oil and dirt from the flat area by the distributor so I could get the engine serial number and I couldn't stop. Here is what I started with, and here is where I ended. Stupid little putty knife, no wonder my projects take so long!

I am doing the same thing on GMC 270 that has not seen the light of day in decades (hidden under a COE cab). This only difference for my engine is that no one will be able to admire the clean engine - it will again be hidden under the cab.
