I used a V reducer from JC Whitney. It bolts onto the +6 post on the back of the gauge. A ground lead attaches to the cluster mounting screw. The +12 lead connects to a stud ... not much choice in mounting!
There are other V reducer designs available. They can go into almost any location you choose between the fuse box and the gauge.
