have a 54 3100 w/ 235. got new plugs & new wires. when all connected, engine runs rough. if i pull spark plug wire off #1 plug and let spark arc to plug, engine runs smooth. took a timing light to all wires, and the strobe works. if i attach timing light to #1 when connected to plug, no strobe. if i disconnect #1 wire and let arc, the strobe works fine. am gonna try new distributor cap and rotor next. any other hints or ideas? thank jwc
