Can you modify the new sender to include the fuel suction line?
If not I'd look for a sender that incorporates the suction line as it was stock.
As another option you can modify your tank to have a suction tube or drain wherever you please.
The fuel sender system I've used many times looks like a 5 gallon can of fuel, it goes in the bed. When the tank is low on fuel the engine makes a distinct sputtering sound, at that point you cut the ignition and pull over preferably on the left side of a hill such that the filler neck is high, makes it easier to pour the fresh fuel in without a funnel....
