I ran the connecting rod reconditioning room for a big machine shop in Nashville Tennessee for several years. Our rod reconditioning equipment was made by Sunnen, with approximately $50,000.00 worth of tooling for rods up to a big-end diameter of over 4". We specialized in heavy-duty Diesel engine components, and the average diameter tolerance we worked with was .0001" (1/10,000"), measured with a dial bore gauge. Is that accurate enough?
