What is the most likely problem with the gas gauge? After being stuck on empty, I VOM tested the sender unit which read about 18 ohms and checked the guage connections and it suddenly read 1/2 tank. Sounded right based on the resistance, plus what I thought was in the tank. But the guage did not go to empty when the key was turned off, but then again that's a GM feature. Here's the deal, I ran out of gas (thankfully 1 blk from home). Right before that happened, the guage went to 3/4, truck died then guage went back to 1/2 tank. What's happening here?
