Thick oil, motor honey, stp, or stop smoke, all do help to control smoking, to an extent. It is just a band aid though.
I used stop smoke in my bus before I got around to the ring job.
I should have just done the ring job in the first place. I found some NOS rings on ebay for $40, it also gave me a chance to lap the valves and replace the valve seals too. My bus was using quite a bit of oil..... A quart per 100 miles...... Hahahha
If'n yer truck only smokes a bit, the goo might help.
If you aren't using straight 30, and switch to it, you might just find the same improvement!
