Last year I picked up a 1953 Chevy 6400. I thought at the time it had a 235. The water pump needed replaced so I went to the local NAPA at got a water pump for a 235. It looked just like the one I pulled off. Later I scraped 60 years worth of grime off the bottom of the block and found the casting numbers. The numbers are for a 261 from 54-55.
Do I need to re-replace the water pump and thermostat?
