On the brake light switch-which is mounted to the engine side of the firewall, inline with the brake pedal-there should be 2 wires coming out the top. One will be going to the brake lights and the other could go to the back of the light switch, this is where the light switch gets power. or you could route it to the ammeter so you know it is getting power all of the time.
