Hy Bigtonka, I have noticed over the years that there seem to be two different rear engine mounts for the 47 - 53 series trucks, not including the spring type mounts. Most of my trucks are larger, and use the mounts shown in your "new mounts" pic's, but I have found some mounts that are smaller and sit closer to the engine. Before you start modifying your mount, check and see if the bolt hole in the mount lies up with the hole in the crossmember. I think the mounts in your picture are for 3/4 ton and larger trucks, at Jim Carters that mount is their p/n ME217, their p/n for the 1/2 ton mount is ME218, and I believe that is the mount that will fit your application, hope that helps.
