I've done a buttload of work on Zenith, Stromberg, and SU "constant depression" carbs. The reason they run so well on Brit cars is the same design feature a Quadrajet has. The spring-loaded floating pistons and the Q-jet air valve won't let the engine get over-carbureted. No matter what the driver does with the gas pedal, the carb is as close to idiot-proof as possible. Rochester B's and even Carters can be overriden by an impatient driver's right foot.
