Never tried, but thought about bonding some plastic sheet to the back. Can buy at lowes for shower surrounds. This might hold shape for longer it's thin and should still fit in center trim. You can buy a 1 pc molded plastic headliner I seen on eBay ($100) Not sure of quality or if it has a molded strip in center to look like original.
