I bought an ignition switch from Chevy Duty for a floor starter switch. It fits in the dash real nice. I want to get away from a floor starter switch, so I decided to but an ignition switch with the starter switch built in (like more recent cars). I went down to the parts store and bought one for $ 8.00. HOWEVER, the aluminum cylinder that encases the contacts in the switch is too great a diameter (I think) to fit up into the well in the dash. I called Chevy Duty and ordered one from them (Thinking they have had experience.) Before puchasing it, they assurred me that it would fit. I ordered it and it was the same one I bought at the parts store!!!!

Has anyone installed one f these ignition switches in a 1950 Chevy 1/2 ton dash and what is the trick? Or perhaps it won't work? I am tempted to find a spring loaded push button starter switch (rated for the solenoid) and hide it under the dash.
