Hi One Ear Dicky. I'm running the same shifter in my '58.
Lokar makes an adapter so that you can use a regular solid knob instead of the Lokar knob with the button in the middle.
It works good. Instead of pushing the button to change gears, you press down on the whole knob.
I believe it takes a 3/8-24 adapter to fit it to the Lokar adapter, which I can supply.
