My LWB 55 series ll has a two piece driveshaft with a middle bearing. I was under my truck yesterday and noticed that what appears to be a deflector in front of the middle bearing on the front shaft is pretty banged up. It seems that whoever replaced the center bearing a few years ago damaged it when pressing the new bearing onto the shaft.
The deflector is still there but there is at least an inch of space between it and the bearing. I doubt that it functions as a dust deflector anymore.
It doesn't look as if it can be removed. It appears to be welded to the driveshaft.
Is this a problem?
Could it be the source of a vibration that I feel at certain speeds?
Should I try to remove what's left of it?
