After having broken bolts drilled out of my exhaust manifold, installing new studs in both the intake and exhaust manifolds, installing the bright, shiny NOS choke thermostat in its home, and reassembling everything, I've found that...the choke rod does not reach the choke blade lever on the carb whenever the rod is pushed down as far as possible to fully load the thermostat coil, but is about 1½ inches short. The coil IS partially loaded and does barely close the choke when cold.

But do I need a longer rod to fully load the coil and ensure that the thermostat behaves as intended at all temperatures?

This is on my '69 C-10 ½-ton with an L6 250.
