I have a 59 as a daily driver. I upgraded brakes, engine and transmission, and she gets around pretty good, while retaining much of the original feel.
IMHO the key to being able to drive one of these daily is inderstanding how to work on them. Unless you have had one before, you won't know every nut and bolt, and how they go together, espeacially on one that has been rebuilt by somebody else. Even if you do get one running in tip top shape, the truck is still 50 years old, and some parts can fail without any warning. I carry a socket set and several other tools in case I have to make a field adjustment to get home. In 50,000+ miles of daily driving, my truck has been dragged home twice. The steering arm broke both times forcing the call to AAA.
