I think it all depends on what you want to do with the truck and what you expect from it. The 6 cyl will handle the mountains just fine. It will be a little slower climbing the mountain, and it will depend on how heavy the trafic is, if you are holding someone up. We all have gotten used to the performance of a V8 and they won't keep up with them. If that is what you expect, I would look for a V8. Myself I prefer the 6 cyl, but they aren't as fast or powerful.
