Folks - For a variety of reasons, Matilda has been sitting most of the winter. I fired her up about a month ago and drove her around town to show this little dog-patch some CLASS, and it ran fine - a bit rich, perhaps, but that's kinda how it is. Anyway, I had her idling and everything was fine, then she loaded up and the engine stalled. I let it go, and packed it in. Last week, I went to start her and she'd start and die, start and die.... She was getting fuel, but ... Fast forward to today - I went to start her up and after a few stumbles, she ran just fine. We needed to take some things over to my In-Laws, so we loaded up the truck and went on our way. She ran fine for about 3 miles, then lost power and started backfiring really bad, as well as chuffing through the carb. She stalled out and we ended up tow roping her over to the In-Laws. I haven't touched the timing at all and the points are not pitted, but I'm suspecting a bad condenser. I checked the compression, and it's over 140 across the board. I'm also thinking about water in the gas..... Any takers?
