We may understand your reluctance to work with an unfamiliar componant such as the distributor but be assured, if you run the vehicle someone will.It usually is the most touched componant involved in ROUTINE tune ups.
The people on this forum know these machines, their parts, and their peculiarities well but they don't know your machine unless you tell them about it--mainly it's condition, history, maintenance done in the last months, what you expect of it, and maybe your expected level of involvement in it's repair.
