For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 38 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 38 | I need some help - I just received my rebuilt 235, the rebuilt Powerglide, and rebuilt starter with solinoid, all are waiting to be assembled and installed in my car.
I was told I need to make sure and add shims if needed on the starter when I install it.
My question is can I test fit the starter and determine the shim requirements while everything is easy to get to now before installing everything in the car? Can I bolt the flywheel to the torque converter and flex plate to the transmission then install the starter amd converter and then check the clearance without bolting the engine up. If someone could walk me though this it would be appreciated. Thanks! | | |
