Go to Tech Tips, scroll down to "Old Online Chevy Manuals", click on "1953 Chevrolet Truck Owners Manual" and voila, all kinds of good info on your truck. There is a lube chart on page 81 showing all the fittings on your rig.
This is a job that a lot of the guys here enjoy doing themselves. Just go get a hand grease gun and a tube of chassis lube at your friendly parts house and spend some quality time under your '53!
Also, welcome to the Stovebolt garage!! Bakersfield is a great "car (truck) town". They actually drive their cars there during the week. I used to take my '59 Chevy p.u. to work every day, except when I drove the '47 coupe.
