Hello All,
I have had a good read through the past posts about overdrive transmissions, but can't seem to figure out what it is I have. Perhaps it is my lack of experience with transmissions.
I have a 1964 Chev Suburban.
So I need to ask some questions.
Are there any numbers on the tailpiece that can identify the overdrive (R100-1 W. O. ?.Y.)
The 7 bolts to id whether it is old or new OD trans are on the shifter linkage plate?
I thought I had the original 230 engine in this burb, but after checking the numbers it is a later 250, so perhaps the trans is too.
What else could tell me the vintage?
Also the wiring on the trans, which I assume is to the solenoid is cut. Where should this run to on the dash? to the ignition? or is there another connection at the fuse panel?
Thanks for your time.
I will try and answer any questions to clarify, but right now it is dark and gravelly under the burb, so my access is somewhat limited.
Bert.
