No I haven't done a compression check or adjusted valves that was my next step. I believe they're hydraulic. I can't put it under a load test not quite yet. Yes the vaccum advance is working and I have kited the carv. Actually I think it ran better before the carb kit. The puzzling part is it idles great and for the first couple r's it runs very good and smooth.
I haven't done anything more than back the truck out of my garage and drive it back in. This rough running just appeared.

Most everything I listed in the first post was done as an effort to correct this roughness.
As I've stated before it starts very easily and runs very smooth at idle and for the first couple hundred r's. Then at about 900 and more RPM s it runs rough. Sounds like a flooded engine and I'm just waiting for it to clear up but it never does.
Thanks Gentelmen for all your help. I guess I need to pull the valve cover and check the valves.
