I've got a 48 3100 running a 283, quadrajet, headers, TR700 and 3:90 gears. It'll run 70 all day long but that big ole visor on the front acts just like a big ole wind brake, so I'm only getting 11/12 at best on the highway. Remember they didn't build those things with aerodynamics in mind, it was a work truck. I'm pretty sure the highway speed limit in 1949 was 50 mph. I would agree that if you think you can have all that you'll have to be thinking LS ....
