The tire size I went with is LT215/85 R-16 E1 BFG Commercial TA's I also made my own adjustable steering arm so I could center the steering wheel.
I was able to use 1/2 ton clips sold by vendors to use the standard 3/4-ton caps.

If you look through the pictures you will see some of the ends/bar I used for clearance intially. Later I changed to a bar with heim joints and they just bolt through the eyes and it got me even more clearance.
