Truck: 1953 1/2 Ton 3100
Engine: Original 216 running 6V Generator
I had been having problem with a weak starting engine with idle problems and hesitation. I replaced grounding straps, battery, battery cables, starter wire, and then rebuilt the Rochester B Carb after noticing it seemed to be running very rich and leaking onto manifold. Sure enough the float was way high leading to excessively rich mixture. Now, it will start quickly and idle without the usually required 1-2" of choke.
I am not sure if I set the choke cable properly into the carb nor if the idle mixture screw is set correctly. It seems like it is idling really low, which might be OK but doesn't sound right. Doesn't sound like a normal Stove bolt 216 if that makes sense. Missing that steady quiet lobing sound...
Additionally the engine seems to shake the cab and frame side to side more than before. Does that make any sense? Seems almost like a misfire issue or is the usual firing just more pronounced at a irregular low idle? This was not noticed before the Carb work. Everything has been checked electrically to ensure all distributor and coil cables are clean and tight. Nothing seems to be loose or moved.
