| | | | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 3,458 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 3,458 | I ride my bike all the time with 4 gallons of gas right between my legs right above a big heat source of an engine with carbs that tend to leak, and I haven't caught fire yet.
It may be marginally safer for you as a driver to have the tank between the frame rails but if you get hit hard enough burning is the least of your problems.
These trucks had the tanks in the cab for years and I have not heard any rumors of them being death traps.
