Well I think some of you can understand my doubt. These six pages are not the sole
source of my information. I've done a lot of reading and asking at other places and
forums. I've gotten PM's and asked at truck stops and tire shops. I've still not gotten any
purely negative answers more like, they work in big over the road trucks but not in stop
and go situations or with light trucks or cars or they‘ve seen no difference with them or
with out them.
Now that they only work while your running at highway speed doesn't make any sense to
me because almost everyone that is using these has to operate in stop and go traffic in and
around cities. No one runs highway speeds 100% of the time.
Another thing that seems contradictory is when I hear that they're the cats meow for
motorcycle tires and ATV‘s. That would indicate to me that they do work on small tires,
motorcycle tires being much smaller than light truck tires or most passenger car tires. My
8.75R 16 light truck tires are about 6” taller than my Triumph Bonneville tires and most
ATV tires are smaller yet.
The other thing that lights up the red bulb is something that the last reply reminds me of.
"Bikes ride smoother and don’t jump so hard over the black strip on the road." It only
seems logical that hitting a sharp bump in the road would jar a group of beads loose and
they would have to re-establish the balance each time they are dislodged. Also I can’t see
how a handful of bead in a tire can smooth out the bumps in the road.
Back to the bottle experiment. Got my Dyna-Beads from Innovative Balancing Inc. in the
mail last night so I have everything to duplicate the demo that they’ve posted on youtube.
1) Took my empty bottle up to 1500 rpm and it runs smooth with the drill not jumping
around the counter at all.
2) Tapped two pennies to one side of the bottle and it vibrated so bad I couldn’t keep it
down on the counter.
3) Poured in about a half ounce of Dyna-Beads and they made a nice even ring around the
outside of the bottle but it still vibrated the same as it did before I added them. Doubled
the amount of beads, one ounce, and again they made a nice even ring around the bottle
but the vibration was just as bad as with out them. Let it run till the drill motor started to
get hot, about three or four minutes and the vibration never stopped.
Conclusion: The ceramic beads will distribute evenly around the inner surface due to
“centrifugal” force and remain there till the rotation is stopped. No indication that they
will gather to the light side of the vessel and even out the balance.
As you would expect, I’m even more skeptical than I was when I first read about
balancing beads a couple of weeks ago. I’m really having serious doubts about
contaminating the inside of my tires with these things. I’ve seen nothing the would lead
me to believe that they would work other than a bunch of people testifying that they have
faith in the sales hype.
Sorry guys but I think this is nothing but black magic and I really can’t see the science
behind it.
