I know most prefer replacing the 216s with later 235's with the full pressure. But I've decided to stick with the 216 because it was my Grandpa's pickup that's been in my family since 1953 so I want to restore it as close to original as possible.
I was wondering, if you can find NOS engine parts, are you better off using them or, due to advancements in metalurgy, are you better off using current production replacement parts? And, if you go with new, do you run the risk of inferior foreign quality? (I'm not sure if the new parts are foreign or not, it just seems everything's made overseas these days.)
If new is the way to go, have any of you dealt with numerous suppliers and found the parts and/or service was superior from one over the other(s)?
I've also heard about Beck's full-pressure conversion for 216s. Has anyone had theirs done or is it really expensive?
Thanks,
Shawn
