Does anyone know the original configuration used to ventilate the crankcase of a 1965 283 engine? I am currently in the process of having the motor rebuilt and when i took it to the Machine Shop the Technician notice that there was what looked like an after market "plug" in the top rear of the block just behind the distributor. He stated that this hole used to accomodate a "Crankcase Vent Tube" or another name was a "Road Draft Tube" and was used to properly ventilate the crankcase. He stated that without proper ventilation the motor would most likely have oil leaks due to too much pressure.
