I assemble most engines with NeverSeez thread lube, unless the factory service manual calls for a thread sealer. Then I use Permatex Super 300. It's a brush-on sealer that's a thick liquid, somewhat easier to apply than the stuff in the tube. There's also another brush-on liquid Permatex product called 3-D, but Super 300 is compounded to be resistant to things like alcohol and aviation gasoline, so I think it's a better sealer. It's a little hard to find unless you're ordering from a Permatex distributor.
