The easy way to make a gasket is to lay the proper thickness gasket material over the
surface transfer a few holes with the ball end of a ball-peen hammer. Run some bolts up
finger tight to hole it in place and then gently start tracing around the edges of the casting
with the flat end of the hammer. Easiest to do the inside first then finish with the out side.
Also helps to rough cut the sheet so your not fighting with all the waste pulling it out of
shape.
