Quite the other way around. A six volt system draws a lot more amperage (double in fact) than a 12v. You'll need lighter wiring for a 12v system. For example Amps = Watts/Volts so using a 2336 (12v bulb) vs a 2330 (the 6v equivalent)- both use 26.5 watts so the 12 2336 would draw 2.2 amps while the 6v 2330 would draw 4.41 amps.
