I just removed mine. Not very much fun. I used a spot weld cutter bit that I bought at Harbor Freight for $5. Other vendors sell different versions at bigger prices. Basically, it cuts a circle around the spot weld. You want to be sure to only cut through the top piece. If you wedge a putty knife between the bed side and the angle strip, the pressure will cause the angle strip to "pop" up once you are through the top piece. The biggest challenge I had was finding EXACTLY where the spot weld was at! The putty knife can help you locate the spot welds too, just feel around.

After the strip is removed, you will be left with small dots of metal that you remove with an angle grinder.
