This issue has be resolved. I drained the tank and rotated the fitting. It was a pressure screw fittng that when you tightened it correctly it was 180 degrees off. So the previous person working on it just left it loose. My sollution was to back the connector fitting off half a turn, then tighten the fitting to the tank till it was fast. All is fine now. Life is good. On to the temp gauge.
