Thanks to everyone for the comments. It has been more than 5 years since I had the shifter box open. I thought I put it back together correctly BUT who am I to be thinking?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
When we put the engine and trans in this past weekend I noticed the following:
1. When the shift lever is moved in the cab, the shift rod coming down the steering column moved up and down and rotates.
2. The levers to the trans do not move.
I have moved the truck to a storage locker about 150 miles away. It will be the middle of Dec until I can get back over there to check out everyone's suggestions. When I have done that I wll reply back with results.
